About Calamity Practice

Calamity Practice is a new theatre company formed by three theatre workers who share a common interest in the development and production of new Australian plays.

We're interested in creating works that experiment with form and content and eschew conventional narrative structures.  We aim to bring together a mix of emerging and established creatives with a strong emphasis on skill development and establishing professional connections and networks.

The Company Members:

Lucy Rees (they/them) is a writer, performer, dramaturg, and theatre-maker from Naarm. Lucy’s work includes Melbourne Fringe show The Space Between, a one-person exploration of the friction between socialised womanhood and public space, directing Kit Richard’s Green Room Award nominated cabaret Wool! A History of Australia’s Wool Industry: The Musical, and Moosehead winning show Scandal! A Reflection on Essendon's Doping Saga: The Musical?

Bob Pavlich (he/him) has worked in theatre since the mid-eighties as an actor and director. He began his career as part of the highly successful theatre collective Whistling in the Theatre. For 24 years he was the Artistic Director of Student Theatre & Film at La Trobe University, where he directed over 50 productions.
